A long time businesswoman and community leader in East Long Beach, Kristina is passionate about her neighborhood, community service, educating our youth, public safety, and maintaining the vibrancy of Long Beach’s business community.
Kristina has relevant experience in leadership in both business and city government roles. She is an executive with almost 30 years of experience starting up and running various local small businesses focused on education, real estate, recreational athletics, and mental health counseling, Kristina currently co-owns and operates Dr. Duggan & Associates, a successful local psychological health center in the Belmont Heights area of Long Beach that provides services to the Long Beach Fire Department, Kaiser Permanente, and various local residents, families, children, and businesses.
Born at Long Beach Memorial Hospital as one of four children to a local bank executive and health care provider, Kristina has been a proud homeowner living in Long Beach’s City Council District 3 for over 22 years. Currently, she and her husband, Matt, live in Belmont Shore with their two teenage children, and their two dogs.
Passionate about her East Long Beach community, Kristina was active in helping to elect her good friend Suzie Price to the Long Beach City Council, who she then worked for as a City Council staff person assisting local residents with city services, programs, and projects; cutting through red tape and bureaucracy; and providing input on various public policy matters. Through her work for Council Member Price, Kristina developed a strong working knowledge of City Hall which allowed her to navigate the process to resolve issues efficiently.
Kristina also served as President of the Lagoon Playgroup Cooperative Pre-School in Belmont Heights; Volunteer Coordinator for the Lowell Elementary School PTA (where she also served as a classroom volunteer); Board Member, Treasurer, and Regatta Director for the Long Beach Rowing Association; Treasurer of the Wilson Girls Aquatics Foundation at Wilson High School; assisted the Friends of Belmont Shore with their communications and membership activities; and hosted the annual Long Beach Police Department’s National Night Out event activities for her neighborhood at her family’s home.
Kristina has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside. In her free time, she enjoys watching her son's youth hockey games, her daughter’s swim meets, her husband’s hockey games, and participating in local recreational athletics. She is an avid skier and former ski instructor, as well as a very active member of the local rowing community where among other things, she worked worked with Council Member Suzie Price to develop a popular program allowing underserved youth the ability to access rowing at nearby Marine Stadium through a free summer program called “Row the Stadium.”
